Pina Colada Protein Smoothie Bowl!
*sings* If you like Pina Colada’s, and getting caught in the raiiiin…
I’m sorry. It had to be done. Is there a person alive who can think of a Pina Colada and not get that song immediately stuck in their head? If there is, I’d like to meet them and discover their secrets.
But anyway. I guess it’s actually a pretty fitting song for the situation. I’m currently sitting here in the kitchen, eating my Pina Colada smoothie bowl as the windows are violently pelleted with raindrops. I mean, it’s not even April yet. April has an excuse: it’s synonymous with rain showers, so everyone KNOWS that they’ll be coming around sooner or later. But it’s STILL MARCH. This isn’t cool. I’m thinking of filing a complaint.
If I close my eyes and savour these sweet, fruity, tropical flavours, I can almost imagine I’m lounging on an exotic island beach, Pina Colada in hand and not a care in the world.
Yes. Such is the power of this Pina Colada Protein Smoothie Bowl. It can transport you to a land far, far away. Not bad for 6 ingredients and one piece of equipment, eh? I’m pretty impressed, I have to say. This is the first green smoothie I’ve made in what feels like eons, and it’s an absolute 10 out of 10. PLUS! It’s not even one of those green smoothies that taste delicious but look like swamp water. It’s the most fresh, vibrant and beautiful looking BRIGHT GREEN! *high fives self*
I shall be having it for every meal until these showers go home. Or, until I am reacquainted with the sun.
Hopefully these times are not far off because in a mere TEN SLEEPS, Andrew and I are going to Ibiza!!!!
*more singing* OH! We’re going to Ibiza! Yeah, we’re gonna have a parrrty!
Ah, for gods sake. Another one of those songs that get stuck in your head as soon as you remember the tune. I’m plagued by them.
But yeah- IBIZA! We’re so excited. It’s not a holiday destination I’d ever considered, to be honest. Mostly because I associated it with crazy alcohol fuelled club nights and, despite the premise of this post, I am in fact an old lady moonlighting as a 20 something. But as it turns out, Ibiza is brimming with natural beauty; rugged cliffs, mountain trails and sun drenched beaches are in abundance alongside gorgeous gastronomy and peaceful yoga and fitness retreats. I wanted to surprise Andrew with a sunny weekend getaway for his birthday, and came across some very reasonably priced flights to Ibiza. In two minds to begin with, I was sold within the space of a 20 minute google search.
So ten days. And the sun will be ours. Until then, these Pina Colada Protein Smoothies will keep me going.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I topped mine with some coconut chips (if you haven’t tried them yet- get on it immediately. They are LIFE CHANGERS) but feel free to add your personal favourite toppings or even serve it topping free.
Let me know in the comments if you try it! I’d love to hear what you think. 🙂
PS. Have you been to Ibiza? Is there anywhere you’d recommend we go?!
